Cat-Like Reflexes

I saw a video done by Sports Science with a football player. It was an interesting video so I searched to see if they had done anything with hockey players. ( This has been the longest summer EVER. LOL )  Sure enogh I found a couple of videos. I apologize in advance that this video not only features the Crapitals it also has Ovenchicken. If anyone wants to beat me for this I humbly request a flogging with wet noodles. I really wish this video had our boy Cam in it.
I also found this video done by Sports Science. It's a Sumo goalie and I got a kick out of it. He's a big ol' boy but he's slow as molasses.

While I was at it I also ran across a video about body checking. The numbers are impressive but the test was flawed. The ice wasn't large enough for the player to gather speed for a traditional hit.

Hope ya'll enjoy the video's. :)  Is it hockey season yet?

Checking video

I think that test was pretty good. The small ice wasnt really a problem. Remember that taking more than three strides before a check is considered charging, so , one doesnt need to really gather too much speed, especially for hits like the ones they were testing.

Ahhh

I didn’t know that 3 strides is considered charging. Thanks for the new wrinkle in the hockey part of my brain. LOL It just seemed that the hit was really tame compared to most hits? It was more like a bump than a hit. Either way, that’s a whole lotta pounds of force. :)

The silly thing

Was George Parros as the test shooter.

I definitely got a kick out of those videos. I was hoping that the sumo wrestler would be HUGE, which he was, but once he was in front of the goal he didn’t cover nearly as much space as I thought he would. Maybe he would play better with out pads, catch a puck in a fat roll – that would provide me with enough laughs to make it to October!

You are right. That would provide me with enough laughs for sure. Especially if he managed to catch one with his butt cheeks. Weeeeee!!! LOL

LOL – if that happend, it would be on the discovery channel as a documentary!

" In Search Of…… The Lost Puck of Sumo" LOL

Man, we really are bored aren’t we? LOL Still fun tho.

Bored isn’t the word for it – we are all just getting desperate for October – wishing our summer away watching fat people play goalie is pretty hysterical when you think about it!

This was well into Olie’s decline too—his reflexes were probably a lot slower then than in 2000 (his Vezina season, I think).

Also, I wish I had creative nicknames like “Crapitals” and “Ovenchicken.” I’d make one up for Staal, but something is stopping me.

c’mon man, you read a fan post on a division rivals blog, and get huffy when someone uses less than flattering nicknames for your team and it’s star player? You gotta kind of expect that.

No worries

wylde4canes. That’s typical of a Craps fan. I wouldn’t expect anything less. ;)

Well, haven’t seen ‘em on Raw Charge, Bird Watchers’, Litter Box Cats, Pensburgh, Broad Street Hockey, Blueshirt Banter, etc, so no, I don’t expect it. Just a little bit easier for others to take it seriously, that’s all.

It’s the offseason. As soon as there’s another Are the Caps Ripe for a Fall Caps-Canes game I’ll come around again. Pensburgh and BSH are really excellent, by the way.

Take it seriously? It’s a fan post on a blog. Any way, welcome to CanesCountry……

Best part is we don’t have to make one up for Semin – name is funny enough on it’s own – guess you guys tossed us a freebe with that one.

Semyon Varlamov initially had his name transliterated on his visa as “Semen” too.

I remember I went to a Caps-Pens game in 2007 February with my mom, younger sister, and friend. The Caps lost (of course), but were up 2-0 early, and after Semin scored the Pens fans behind us started shouting “Your name’s SE-MEN!!!” (clap, clap, clapclapclap). My sister was 7 or 8 at the time.

not to be a downer, but any of those glove-side high shots by ovie would have been goals on cam x.x

I can’t believe you went there ECU. I’m glad I read this AFTER worshipping at the alter of my goalie God, Cam. :P

I bet AO scored a ton, but they just picked shots of Olie stopping shots.

Steve, an EMS wouldn’t help the poor man that stood between me and a good sale. You’d have to call the undertaker. LOL
