Ooof. ASG Prices in...

From my email....order form packets are going out late this week. Prices are:

1) Upper Level Package: $200 per seat

2) Lower Level Package: $260 per seat

My questions are still:

a) Are we going to be able to order more than our seat numbers? I thought before no, but the wording of the email makes me think otherwise. (for instance: "order forms")

b) Are "packages" including tickets for both days?

I don't know what I was expecting price wise, but I think the answer to b) will hopefully settle if I think this is fair or not.

Thoughts?

I think the prices are for a package of tickets (i.e. one to each event), but the e-mail isn’t very specific. I’m not sure I can afford $400 per seat for both events.

let's hope its "package"=2 events

If not, that’s a ton of $$ to shell out. $100-$130 per event seems fair to me though given the event.

I really hope “package” means both events – if so, I’m a happy camper. Not sure what else it would mean? If it was per event, you would think it would say something like “$260 per seat, per event.” I

From Ice_Chip

That’s $260 and $200 for All-Star Game weekend, including Skills Competition on Saturday.

Sounds to me like those prices are for the package. I’m okay with that price for both games. Personally, I was expecting higher, but I tend to be conservative when it comes to budgeting.

Mike Sundheim's confirmation

Here’s a source even closer to the org than Chip:

So, All Star game only: $180 / $135 (lower level / upper level)

All-Star weekend (including Skills Competition): $260 / $200 (lower level / upper level)

seems fair

That’s about what I thought. However, my lingering question is how many seats can i buy relative to my number of seats?

by chrisbrasfield on Aug 30, 2010 7:26 PM EDT reply actions

STHs (26-game and full season) will be given the opportunity to buy tickets equal to the numbers of season tickets they have.

by Gillimus on Aug 30, 2010 8:54 PM EDT up reply actions

So, then that warrants the question: Will there be any STH’s that are electing to NOT purchase tickets? If so, let me know.

Great Question

I know we are using our five, but perhaps the gurus here can figure out a way (tweetering perhaps) that STHs who are not using their tickets for themselves can purchase them on behalf of some other CC fans here. I don’t know how many seats are going to be available absent that kind of each one help one approach.

don't be

terribly surprised if the RBCC or the NHL will NOT allow that to happen..but over all & by and large…the prices don’t seem to be too pricey or out of like as compared to a world series or super bowl or MLB all star game…to those who are and will be going & to Helsinki…Have fun, take lots of pics to share…Thanks…

FYI this is almost exactly the same ticket price Atlanta charged when they hosted the All-Star Game several years ago, so whoever set the prices hasn’t inflated them for this event as of late.

I suspect very few tickets if any will be available for sale outside of the STH base.

Full and 26-game STH’s have until 9/30 (great timing, just BEFORE we leave for Helsinki) to declare and make full payment.

12-game mini-plan holders are only guaranteed tickets for either one or the other of the Skills competition or the ASG, but they will be the next priority should tickets be released by the NHL or by other STHs choosing to opt out.

Haven’t read anything about the young stars game that is always played on ASG weekend. Is that part of the Saturday skills competition? It usually is, but details are non-existent.

The young-stars game is a short (three 2-3 min periods I think?) 3-on-3 scrimmage that happens during the Saturday Skills competition, you are right. The past few years it has been Rookies vs. Sophomores, I wouldn’t be surprised if we had at least a guy or two in the game.

In my opinion the Superskills competition is actually funner and more entertaining than the All-Star game. It will be a good time.

Yikes, I guess I don’t have to worry about whether or not 12-game tickets will qualify for ASG tickets since that pricing pretty much takes me out of the running for them.

"What Carolina really has going for them is Brandon Sutter. When that kid first showed up, he looked like a skinny little thing that wouldn’t last two weeks. But he’s turned into a real star."

Upstairs STH may get Downstairs ASG tickets

I’ve been trading e-mails with my season ticket rep since the initial e-mail. He’s confirmed for me that STH with seats in the upper bowl will be able to purchase tickets down low based on availability and priority. I honestly cannot believe the team is allowing that. I thought for sure you would have to have a season ticket downstairs to go a downstairs ticket to the ASG. The Canes do go way above and beyond what other teams offer their fans.

I understood the email to mean that was the package price.

I did not get the impression at all that more seats would be available than what is in your plan.

I think the pricing is reasonable and what I expected. Plan to sit in lower bowl if possible, but there isnt a bad seat in the house.

STH's can order additional tickets.

There is no guarantee, but you can request additional tickets, which will be granted (if available) by priority. I plan to request a couple of extra, just in case. I’ve got a pretty high priority, so I just might get them.
