Plans for Sitting Together for Oct 1 game
A few thoughts have been expressed about sitting together for the Oct 1 game since it's General Admission. I proposed starting a FanPost to help us organize the plans. It's definitely open to suggestions and comments from all. Here's a starting place to begin the planning:
Doors open for Season ticket holders at 12:00pm The doors for everyone else open at 12:30pm. If you're like us, we have a mix of STHs and non-STHs in our group - so this may take some coordination.
A good first step might be to agree on a section or sections to meet and find seats. Those that are STHs can save seats for the non-STHs.
The floor is open for discussion:
**UPDATE** As LTD mentioned in a comment - the team will be leaving for Helsinki from the RBCC. We need to plan for a big send-off and after-game party/tailgating as well.

Will be 4 of us coming (myself, wifey, little man and mom (for her first game, no less!) ) So I’m open for anything. Off work that day, can meet anywhere and anytime. Whichever is easier for the group. I would say whoever is best at getting seats coughDANIcough could pre-scout for us, and we can get in whenever we can!
"...they will not force us...they will stop degrading us...they will not control us...we will be victorious..."
Mah blog.
i’ve got maybe 2 people coming with me. it may just be me and my dad coming and we are both STH. if the other person comes then he’s not a STH. we’ll have to save a seat.

my guess is that we would want center ice but maybe closer the side where we shot twice
also, need a approx head count and what time can everyone be there
i can be on of the ones that goes in earlier since i have STH tickets – who else can go in earlier with me
SAFETY IN NUMBERS :)

if we get there early enough to help save seats we can help save seats with you no problem :)

I’m coming with my 3 kids, and since they will be missing school I don’t expect to get there much before 1pm. Hopefully someone can make sure there are 4 seat in the group when we arrive. Not picky about the location.

STH here — I’ll be coming with my one ticket (have an extra if someone needs it – right now, can’t find anyone to come with me – maybe I should adopt a kid) — Let me know where you’ll be sitting and I’ll meet up with you.

If you don’t have a ticket, you can be my kid — I’ll be out of town until next Friday, so we’ll have to arrange to meet somewhere – shouldn’t be difficult for me – I am ALWAYS early to the games………….

Sorry for the stream of consciousness here…
1. I have heard and have been told, but have not seen it confirmed anywhere, that in addition to the early arrival time, season ticket holders will have some exclusive sections set aside for them. Now, I have no idea how the RBCC staff could control that unless they deem the East and/or West priority sections and/or Club level as STH-only. But that may be a consideration if we have a mix of tickets and they won’t let everyone into every section.
2. I typically hang out in East Priority, 117 through 121. Toward 117 you get great views of the bench, toward 121 you get us attacking twice (except for last night but I digress…). If you sit high enough (say Row Q or above) you can see all the ice clearly in either direction. I usually either sit low (first 3-4 rows) or high (Q or above) otherwise the top of the glass and/or penalty boxes play havoc with the old camera lens. West Priority offers the same views but I like being on the side where you can see the bench instead of being behind it, although not as important for a preseason game.
3. We have three STH tickets but the other two are on the fence about next Friday because it’s the day before we leave for Helsinki (w00t! w00t! w00t!) and I suspect there will be a need for some last minute prep. So I will have to weigh in on the number in my party a little later and if they don’t go I’ll of course make those tickets available. That all being said, you know I don’t really “sit” during a game anyway, so I’ll stick around for awhile but then I’ll be roving.
4. Do remember that afterwards the team will be leaving straight for the airport for their flight to Russia, so we may also want to think about hanging around for some after-party and a big send-off as they’re leaving the arena.

The big send-off is a great idea!!! Since I’ll be by myself — it would be fun to hang out and give the guys a send off. As I said last week — I’ll be living Finland through your eyes since I’m not going

ticket seat locations
I bought a 12-game plan and received my tickets yesterday. We have 3 people in my family and they gave us 3 tickets for the Oct 1st game with actual seat numbers and lower level seat location. So I guess they will honor those seats if you have them on your tickets??
I hope the sections are reserved as stated or else I would suspect a lot of complaining about someone sitting in someone else’s seat.
I was just going to mention this as well. I wasn’t sure what to make of it when I saw that my tickets had seat #s and a section on them.
"What Carolina really has going for them is Brandon Sutter. When that kid first showed up, he looked like a skinny little thing that wouldn’t last two weeks. But he’s turned into a real star."
Neaux (and cg), if I were you, I would call my ticket rep and get confirmation.
12-game tickets were printed in-house and it may be that the way the print job was set up the section and seat numbers were automatically printed on the tickets.
Everything I have read and heard is that this game is GENERAL ADMISSION for everyone. Full and 26-game holders did not get their section/seat printed on the ticket and it does not make sense for 12-game plan holders to have reserved seating since multiple plan holders can in theory be assigned to the same seats in the arena.
I really hope this is something they clear up well before the game, otherwise this is misinformation and you’re right, people are going to complain.

I just thought it was odd that the seat #‘s and section were lower level.. Since our 12-game plan for the regular season is for upper level seats. So I don’t know what they are doing.
we have 12 mini game plans to. I got tickets at the summer fun fest because I didn’t know that mini plans were going to receive free tickets to this game. I just found out that our tickets say at the top GENERAL ADMISSION but then say Sect 126 row WW seats 5-8. Our normal season tickets are 304 row N seats 22-25. So I don’t know what that’s about I’m going to go with GENERAL ADMISSION.

I can get there fairly early…or however early I can convince my seatmate is a “reasonable” time to go since I am going to be “visiting grad schools” that day and will have come home the night before.
What time are other people thinking about arriving?
"What Carolina really has going for them is Brandon Sutter. When that kid first showed up, he looked like a skinny little thing that wouldn’t last two weeks. But he’s turned into a real star."
I took the day off so I am pretty much a “party” waiting for the people and place to happen :)

LOL no-I’ve known most of y’all long enough to never doubt the amount of fun that I’ll have.
I’m like 99% positive that they won’t let me in until 12:30, but I’ll make a beeline for y’all as soon as they open the doors for me. I’ll even resist the urge to go into the Eye.

but seating is general admission 1st come 1st serve. I will tweet question to double check but that is what we were told last night

Ok so by my calculations...108 seats!!
Yikes, I am going to need A LOT of help! (and ideas on how to pull this off)
Ok so I think we should target sections 120, 121, 122 on the East Priority side – so East parking lot would be a good place to start.

Oh wow. I will be there as soon as I can to help you. Message me your number so I can help you coordinate things.

What this doesn’t state explicitly, but implies, is that the East and West priority areas will be restricted to Season Ticket Holders until 1:00 pm, so if we are shooting for those sections, we’ll need to save seats for those who don’t have a STH ticket that want to sit there.

Dangit – my slow computer – I was just about to add the same thing LTD and HMof2 add.
So the question is if they will let us save seats. I agree with danicanes that we should target sections 120, 121, 122 .
Also, If you follow @RFHockey on Twitter we can send an update as soon as we know the section(s). I can post here as well.
so -
everyone that wants to sit with canescountry peeps that have STH should meet at East entrance at 11:30ish to get in line – the more STH people we have better chance we have of sitting together and saving seats for those who cannot get in earlier.
if you want us to TRY and save seats and you don’t have a ST come around the East entrance around that time and put in “order”
Also, once we get in we will tweet and update CC as to where the group has ended up so people can come by and meet others face to face – “CC on Display” we should call it ;)~

new poster
I read here from time to time, but haven’t posted. Obviously Canes Country is a vibrant supportive community for the Canes fan and the members and authors are to be commended.
But can I offer an opposing viewpoint? I think it’s a little unkind to game the system to save seats for non-STHs that might force active STHs out of the benefits that they’ve paid for.
Just my 2 cents.
If this becomes an issue, even though I’m a STH, I’ll be happy to move to a non-STH section to sit with the non-STHs in my group.
I don’t think it’s going to be an issue though, I’m sure the ushers will let us know if it is.
First, welcome! Hope this is your first of many posts…
Our intent is just to get some seats together so we can continue to meeting new CC folks in person & sit with friends we have met on CC. Many of us are STH, so by no means are we trying to force other STH out of the benefits. Also, we have varying scenarios in the group where STHs are coming with family who are non-STH and some STHs just can’t get there early enough.
We don’t plan to create any issues. As Cyn says we will move if it becomes an issue.

I might have extra STH seats
I have 4 STH tickets for this game, and I may have 2-3 extra.
I will know for sure by tomorrow or the next day.
Let me know if interested, you would have to meet me in morrisville or RTP to pickup.
Might be able to meet before the game.
Sure, works for me! Thanks a lot!!!!
All above is my personal opinion.
Thanks,
Andy_S
I am working in RTP, I can meet you in RTP or Morrisville. Looks like there no way to send you my phone in private…?
All above is my personal opinion.
Thanks,
Andy_S
Ok, I will not know until tomorrow at the earliest if I will have extras or not.
Does this site not have the ability to send private messages?
I have never had a need to, and cant see to find a way either.
If you are on the official canes message board, I have the same name on there too. you can PM me your email address there if you want.

You know Comedian Ron White's saying...U Can't Fix Stupid?
My group of STH are sitting over a couple of sections where you all propose to save 105 seats in prime locations and are actually looking forward to seeing who will win
Ron White’s award. We want to see if it’s the STH you convince that they can’t sit in that seat when no one is sitting in it and leave…or you all thinking you could convince that many of them that it’s taken and no one sitting there. Have you all ever been to a general admission first come, first serve event? It’s going to be a highlight reel that we will probably tape. Either way, hats off to you for the effort or the success.
Well, hats off to you as well for your continued efforts. It’s always refreshing to hear people on this forum being referred to as stupid.

And from what I’ve observed those section don’t generally fill up until AFTER the game has started, which will be when the non-STH folks are allowed in. Given the # of STH’s that will be out of town, can’t get off of work or who just don’t care to go to the game, it’s doubtful it’s going to be an issue.
And if a STH wants a seat, I’ll give it to him/her and go sit elsewhere. You’re really getting your underpants in a wad for nothing.

Brawls
Must agree w/ c59 this is going to be entertaining…just attempt to get your seat back at a general admin gig after intermission will be fun. Has the potential to resemble a game of musical chairs…
No problems at all
It was great to see everyone at the game today. Sorry to disappoint those wishing for some extracurricular activity – there was none. Even had a few empty seats around us we weren’t even trying to save.
My Apologies
I have had a heart to heart email chat with Bob (Bubba) as to the hurtful things I have posted here as of late. He has not asked me to apologize, he just wanted to inquire as to why I have done this. I have excuses which really holds no merit and is foolish. I do want to apologize to anyone on this forum that I have offended. As a fan who holds a great love for this team, I should be embrassing all of you instead of insulting you for trying to be a hockey family. I do plan to post a fanpost for my apology, but I needed to start here first. On this particular fanpost I send this out especially to Cyn4Canes, danicane, LTD and anyone else that was hurt or insulted by my “stupid” remarks. I think we all clearly can see who actually made Ron White’s list.
I do owe a huge apology to HMO2 as to her interview with Ms. Black that I failed to appreciate her efforts and time. I was able to find her email address and will send this out to her personally. I was not however able to find emails for Cyn4Canes or danicane, but I did try.
