Wysh is a great guy and loves the Raleigh atmosphere, had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with him a few times… The last being the ASG last year. Very interested to listen, thank you!

I couldn’t get the link to work in either Firefox or Windows Explorer.

I found it wasn’t really obvious what to do in Chrome – but I discovered that when I first go to the link http://www.canescountry.com/pages/canes-country-radio I have to then click on the “Canes Country Radio” logo on the left side of the graphic – then the menu/play buttons work, but not until I did that.

Worked fine in Firefox for me.

I bet its a network settings issue if you are trying to listen at work.

by RobbinDollar on Oct 28, 2011 1:12 PM EDT up reply actions

As in it just won’t open? Or is there another problem?

by Brian LeBlanc on Oct 27, 2011 6:36 PM EDT up reply actions

It opened, but it would not play. It kept saying click to play, I’d click, it wouldn’t play. etc.

by abramsdoug on Oct 27, 2011 6:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Hmm…strange. Well, if nothing else works, here’s a direct link to download the show: http://bit.ly/unbH9D

This is really bizarre. I’ll look into what the deal is. I use Safari at home and Chrome at work, and they worked fine for me both places. Obviously something is haywire somewhere, but I’ll need to figure out where it is along the line.

worked fine for me in firefox. Just click the specific podcast title

No clue what’s up with my Firefox; worked perfectly on Chrome. Didn’t work on Internet Explorer 8. At hotel, maybe it’s their firewall? Did Puck Daddy make the Marriott chain angry?

never know with Greg!

Ah…if you’re at a hotel that might explain it. There’s a bunch of things that have to load in short order, and hotel connections may not be able to handle them all at once. (I have the same problem on our connection at work.) If any one of the things doesn’t load, the whole thing doesn’t work.

Interesting comments

On Mo— Greg seemed to be pretty solid in the .500 coach club. Teams under Mo go up and down. But a hot goalie, or good run by some forwards brings back hope. All of which means he’s never quite bad enough to get fired, but not really good enough to get us in the playoffs. (my take)

On Staal. Very excellent and rteasonable view point. Staal is a top player, not A list, not in the same league as Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Sedins, but a B+ player. Someone you want on your team. Paid as these top guys, but Staal is not alone in that by far—it’s a contract you have to make to keep him on the team, keep him as your franchise player or he’s gone. But he’s darn good, just not the “generational talent” type of player. Most teams have this type of player and contract, unless they were lucky to get the Crosby/Stamkos type because that draft had that type of player. And unfortunately people, you can rarely buy those guys on the open market….And, if you do try to buy talent on the open market, you wind up overpaying (see Cole, Erik). So the team has to lock up these types of players. It is what it is, but it’s not really fair to expect Staal to be Crosby or Ovie just because he paid that way. But Staal has proven to be a winner and performer in Playoffs, ASG, and Olympic play. So any other team would be happy to take him.

I mixed my interpretation in with Greg;‘s comments—I understand he didn’t say all these things nor imply them for those wondering. This is my essay…

Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Sedin, Sedin

Cup, Cup, No Cup, No Cup, No Cup, No Cup.

Staal – Cup.

The Condor. #63.

So you are saying that if you had an opportunity to trade Staal for Stamkos you would do that deal?

Think about it… put Stamkos with LaRose and Poni….whats Stamkos’s points going to be?

Now put Staal with St. Loius and Malone and whats Staal’s points going to be.

Also keep in mind that the Sedins are 2 players and they play well together. Give Eric Jordan to play with and see their numbers skyrocket.

Just dont think there are alot of better players than Staal out there. There are some but all the other ones have a compliment of players to elevate their game.

Lets get a Patrick Sharp, Vanek, Kane, Zetterburg guy in here and then tell me Staal isnt an A list player. The best guy he has played with is Cole… Cole is my favorite player but stil…he is 3rd line in Montreal, not that I agree with that but still… put it in perspective people.

We are lucky to have Staal. Take him off our roster and where would we be?

Just saying..Crosby Ovi are great yes we know….

Nice interview! Thanks for posting that for us! Puckdaddy is a good blog as well!

I agree that Staal is what he is.

I disagree and I say he is more than an B+ star as he would be the corner stone for most franchises. Only a few players in the league are better. He always draws the top D- pairing and the checking line of every team. Add that and lack of talent on his line and boom A goes to B+

I think most fans irritation with him is the inconsistency in his effort. He is a 100 pt guy and has a hard time being a point a game guy cause of his effort. If he had a top end wing or even a top end center and he slides to the wing then I see him being more consistent. Its demanding being the guy all the time and he takes shifts off because of it.

I would take Staal over Stamkos any day!

Just had time to listen, and I enjoyed it. Interesting that you didn’t begin with soft questions and dove right in with MO’s status as a coach. Interesting take on Staal as well and I would have to agree with his comments.
