UPDATED: The Hurricanes make the Dalpe and Bowman moves official. Nothing more from them on Jokinen's injury and recovery time frame.
The Carolina Hurricanes are not practicing today after their 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, but the News & Observer's Chip Alexander has reported via twitter that center Jussi Jokinen will be out 3-4 weeks with a lower-body injury suffered during the 3rd period of last night's game. Drayson Bowman will be recalled from Charlotte and Zac Dalpe, who is coming off the injured reserve also with a LBI, will be sent to the AHL affiliate for a conditioning stint.
@ice_chip : Jokinen out 3-4 weeks, Rutherford says. Drayson Bowman to be called up from Checkers. Dalpe will be assigned to Charlotte for conditioning.
In his post-game comments Coach Paul Maurice suggested that Jeff Skinner continues to look for opportunities to move to center, and that they have chosen the winger Bowman over Checkers' centers Jon Matsumoto or Riley Nash, suggests Skinner will get that chance now. Tuomo Ruutu also played at center last season, so he could be another option for that line.
We'll post further details when the Hurricanes make this official.
Meanwhile, Canes Now has a few more details from GM Jim Rutherford on Jokinen's injury and Dalpe's assignment, which is expected to be brief.
