Canes Recall Dalpe, Samson from Charlotte
Team reassigns Zach Boychuk and Brett Sutter to AHL affiliate
After both the Carolina Hurricanes and Charlotte Checkers went into overtime last night resulting with just the one point in an OT loss, the teams are swapping out four young forwards.

I’m wondering if this means Ryan Carter isn’t going to be ready to play today after all. They had told us yesterday it was a one-game rest, back Sunday. Sounds like he’s out till Monday.

Depth chart says...
The keeper of the depth chart (which tends to function more like a starting line-up forecaster), Paul Branecky, presumably has some insight into the Mind of Mo.
So, perhaps not too surprisingly, the newcomers are apparently being assigned to the fourth line, at least for starters.
However, it also wouldn’t surprise me to see some legit fourth line time, barring a penalty-strewed special team dominated game, to see if a surprise goal or two could be scored from those ranks.
Also wouldn’t surprise me to see a situational field promotion for Dalpe, if he looks like he’s got something to give today.

Always resourceful.
But – I got to thinking about Bodie only playing 2 minutes last night. According to the shift chart he didn’t play after the 16 min mark of the 2nd. Was he hurt? Maybe Carter’s coming back and so Samson will be Carter’s RW, w/ LW to be named at 5pm. Seems like they didn’t want to bring up Dalpe if he was only going to play 5-6 minutes. But some of the talk is just that and decisions are made as they seem best in the moment.
Brett played 17 secs for one shift in the third.

I wasn’t following this aspect of the game all that closely last night, but I was thinking going into the game that we may not see much of the fourth line at all, particularly if playing from behind.
Reason was, I saw that the Lightning were going with only 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. So, I was thinking that Mo might be afraid of finding his fourth line suddenly facing their first line as they skipped a fourth line rotation, thereby feeding his tendency to skip them himself.
I did see an awful lot of St. Louis out there, it seemed, so maybe he was being double-shifted. Also, their AHL call-up only had two brief shifts in the third, so both benches were shortened.
