If Jokinen is injured, who will Rutherford Call Up?

I have not heard much on Jussi Jokinen's injury last night and have not seen anything official yet, but, curious if one of the Zac's will get the call up.

Personally, I'd love to see Zach Boychuk get the call. He's been great with his previous call ups and I love seeing him on the Sutter line.

I guess I may have to swing by practice later this morning and see...

Odds are on Boychuk Being Called Up

My guess is that the odds are Boychuk willl be called up if Jokinen is not able to play. Boychuk had a key goal and an assist in two games during his last call up. He did not set the AHL on fire for the couple of games he had with the Checkers when he was sent down; but he and Dalpe were both playing well. They are clearly not sulking; and are making the most of their time in Charlotte.

Samson deserves a call up; but I suspect the fact Boychuk and Dalpe have shown they can fit in with the Hurricanes weighs heavily in their favor. This month is do or die time for the Hurricanes’ playoff aspirations. Last night a point got away from them at the RBC. For me with games lost by one goal, I continue to think the goal scoring ability of Boychuk and Dalpe can be the difference between a win or a tie, and merely playing well, but losing. In my view, although Dwyer and LaRose had good games, the line of Skinner/Ruutu/LaRose had no points at all; and Dwyer/Sutter/Tlusty had no points.

Last night was a playoff game for all intents and purposes and was played that way by both teams. It’s an excellent sign that McBain and Corvo were the goal scorers; but it points out the need for forwards who can score.

boychuk, dalpe bring speed, keep defense pushing back, we need that

creates more space in the offensive zone, helps us establish forecheck and shooting lanes. i saw larose clog the middle last night on the rush and literally take the puck away from skinner who was setup nicely coming in on goal…oy…

I’d love to see Samson get a call up as well. But I totally agree with you on Boychuk and Dalpe’s fit with the team.

Tough loss last night, but we’ll be on another win streak soon and move up to 8th place and hopefully continue to move up from there.

I’ll tweet later if I see any additions at practice…

Wonder what the coaches/management have against Samson?

He’s pretty much done what there is to do in the AHL. Let’s give him some more time up here.

He’s not a better choice than Dalpe or Boychuk, and may even be behind Bowman.

Don't trust me. I have psychological issues.

Like you I am not sure…but from the way it looks ..it could be them calling soimeone thay know well…verses someone they know…..but i too would love to see samsone up and prove the Canes Mgt oh so wrong…Asa i see him a better oplayer than Keith Acoin who when he was with the then Albany River Rats and had several call ups to the canes…but is or seems to be a lifer in the AHL …and I’d hate to see Samson end up like that…but at least he gets to play often and more there then here…
