Kypreos: Volchenkov hit on Boychuk earns a date with Colin Campbell

According to a tweet from Rogers Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos, Anton Volchenkov's blow to the head of Zach Boychuk in the third period of tonight's game in New Jersey has earned him an appointment in the principal's office. Kypreos reports that Volchenkov has a Wednesday meeting with NHL SVP and Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. Volchenkov has never been suspended in his NHL career, so any suspension would be a first-time offense and will likely be no more than two games.

For his part, Boychuk said on Twitter this evening that he was cleared by doctors after passing a baseline test and unless he regresses over the next couple of days, he should be available to play on Thursday night in Philadelphia.

Update 2/9/11: Multiple sources, including TSN's Bob McKenzie and the Canes' Paul Branecky, are reporting that Volchenkov's meeting with Campbell will take place today, not tomorrow. The original post has been edited to reflect this update.
