According to a report yesterday in the Portland Press Herald, Carolina Hurricanes prospect Brian Dumoulin will return to Boston College next season for his junior year. The Hurricanes drafted Dumoulin in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
The paper had the following quote from the defenseman:
"That's one thing I've gotten out of the way," Dumoulin said of the decision. "I'm coming back next year for my junior season. It's something where a decision would have to be made soon, and we all handled the decision very well. I need to improve a lot before I make the jump to the professional level."
Perhaps he'll take the same path that Jamie McBain took on his way to the NHL. The former Hobey Baker finalist stayed at Wisconsin through his junior season before signing a pro contract with Carolina.
Dumoulin is racking up a few awards himself as his team prepares to defend their National Championship from a year ago.
