Race Getting Tighter: Quick Hits For Sunday

The Eastern Conference is tightening up and while the Carolina Hurricanes are still in eighth place at the moment, the Buffalo Sabres are now just one point behind, with two more games to play before the Canes face their next opponent on Wednesday night.

The Sabres have two road games, one in Minnesota, Sunday evening and one in Pittsburgh, Tuesday night.  After their big win against the Flyers yesterday, Buffalo is 4-0-2 in their last six games.

The Canes are in need of a similar stretch of games.  After taking the day off Saturday, they will have a practice at the Rec Zone today starting at 12:15.  (UPDATE:  Due to conditions at the Rec Zone, the players will be working out off ice today.)

I'm in the process of working on a couple of articles which should be completed shortly.  In the meantime, here are a few links which might be of interest.

Great Causes

Tripp Tracy, Chuck Kaiton, Hockeymom's son, and several other Caniacs have already gotten their heads shaved for St. Baldrick's.  Yesterday, a couple of Hurricanes players got involved, Tim Gleason, Justin Peters, and Troy Bodie.

Also, our own Cory Lavalette has an event scheduled at Ruckus Pizza on March 19 at noon.  For more info, check out the following link.

Speaking of worthwhile causes, the Hurricanes are also sponsoring a "buy one get one free" promotion for the USO of North Carolina. Of course, the USO helps out the military and their families.  See more information below.
