Checkers Take Game One From Bears, 5-4

The Charlotte Checkers beat the Hershey Bears, 5-4 last night in game one of their AHL playoff series.  Zach Boychuk tied the score at 4 with 11:20 left in the game, and Drayson Bowman put in the game winner two minutes later.

Zac Dalpe had a goal and chipped in with two assists as he led the team with three points.  Chris Terry and Brett Bellemore also had goals for the visitors.  Justin Pogge picked up the win in net.

Braden Holtby, a goalie who earned a tough 2-1 win against the Hurricanes earlier this season when he played for the Caps, took the loss for the Bears.

GoCheckers.com will have more information.  After they play game two in Hershey on Sunday evening, the two teams will tangle in Charlotte next week.
