Hockey's Future: Zac Dalpe tops list of Hurricanes prospects
The writers over at Hockey's Future, including Canes Country's Cory Lavalette, have updated their rankings to include the additions from the 2011 Entry Draft. Here's the top 5 of 20 included in the analysis. Beyond Dalpe moving to #1, the new rating shows that 3 of the top 5 are defensemen.
1 - Zac Dalpe (C)
2 - Ryan Murphy (D)
3 - Justin Faulk (D)
4 - Brian Dumoulin (D)
5 - Victor Rask (C)
Check out the whole list and the thinking behind the ratings here.

Good signs up and down.
It says something about the caliber of player we’re bringing in that a guy like Jordan could have a “better transition to the pro game than expected” and still fall down the list.
Advance apologies if the contents of this sports-based post offended you. I'm just aiming to educate the masses. My law professor says they're asses.
Panthers '011: This is what we've been waiting for...we get to overpay the core of a 2-14 team!
The Boychuk Evaluation
I find Cory’s analyses to be well-thought out and cogent. I tend to think the Boychuk evaluation is probably too far a drop: from second to sixth. I have no disagreement at all that Dalpe is ranked as the Canes top prospect. I also have no disagreement that Rask is in the top five for the Canes’ prospects. I haven’t seen enough of Ryan Murphy to form an opinion of how close he is to stardom at present; but I am convinced he will be an NHL star. Faulk has been outstanding; and he, too, has star power. So if I were doing the ranking, I’d probably have it:
1. Dalpe
2. Boychuk
3. Murphy
4. Rask
5. Faulk
6. Dumoulin
7. Bowman
8. Sanguinetti
9. Nash
10.Terry
If Terry has added more explosive speed by working with Gary Roberts and is more fit in terms of being NHL conditioned, I could envision making Terry 9 and Nash 10. If Nash comes in with 10 more pounds, I’d put him ahead of Terry.
Corey Pronman's Take on Canes' Prospects
For another view on the Boychuk discussion, check out Corey Pronman. Corey Pronman is a well-respected hockey commentator/scout. Here’s his take on the Canes’ prospects:

@dabrams2021 I love Boychuk, he’s going to be a top six scorer in the league. Don’t think there’s a lot of reason to be pessimistic
hats off to
Cory & Miss Carolyn and while i too like the overall rankings as Cory 7 etc placed them…but sadly I do not share AD’s enthusiasum with Boychuck this time around.Like AD Love the guy..but for some reason he didn’t do what many knew he could do…and it wasn’t because of ‘nagging injuries’ ..what this fan saw was his lack of willingness to go all in or and attitude of taking a bullit for the team even if it killed me type of body language…now i do have hope as it was reported that like Skinner who is earning a reputation like BrindAmour to be a workout fanatic..the Zach did go to a gary Roberts type of workout camp/center in the off season…as this fan feels and while i still love his energy and play…but if Boycheck doesn’t make it this time around…we could be seeing yet another Keith Accoin in the AHL as could Bowman … but remember…this disclaimer…I’m just a fan…what do i know ?
What did you do during the summer when the playoffs are over ?
Go Canes & Checkers !!
