Just got the lineup, and Spacek is scratched, so I wasn’t seeing things in the warmup. :)

Spacek did not take the warmup, far as I could tell.

Bruins: Lucic-Krejci-Horton, Seidenberg-Corvo, Thomas
One of the referees tonight is Marcus Vinnerborg, the first non-North American (and, thus, the first Swedish) official in NHL history. He called a Canes/Thrashers game in Atlanta last December but tonight is his first game in Raleigh. You’ll have to up your game if you want to trash-talk the officials tonight. :)

Nope, you’ll just have to hurl your insults toward the ice in Swedish.

Good crowd tonight, but a lot of Bruin fans.
JR; please dump some players and bring the kids up to stay!

When I went down to Florida over Christmas, it was so obvious why the Lightning and Panthers see dollar signs in a conference with the Canadian teams. The number of Quebec license plates made I-95 look like the Decarie Autoroute at rush hour.

Gotta admit, hearing Holly Wilver (now married and with a kid) (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) doing the national anthem brought back some memories. She sounds exactly like she did in 2006.
Not sure how it was a phantom call. He did push the guy’s face out of his way with his elbow. If that isn’t elbowing, what is?

the clipping audio is really bad.
any one else listening to an HD feed on a stereo or surround system?
"a bit of love"
Ponikarovsky somehow didn’t score despite two cracks from the top of the crease and a wide-open net. Samson set him up perfectly. Still scoreless, unbelievably.
some props to AWard a few moments ago !!

That’ll do it for the first. Shots 11-6 Bruins, but it seems like there should be more of a difference than that.
Anyone else noticing our rushes up ice are looking much better than they did one month ago? Passing a little crisper. A little more speed on each line.
yes, but its still a work in progress.

I don’t think we did too bad the last ten. It’s refreshing to see some of the young guys. Faulk and Samson really impressive.

You never know, look what happened to Pitken and Jussi, they both resigned. Though if he does get traded and is not willing to resign, we better get something decent in return..

Bruins up 1-0 – Bergeron 12 (Boychuk, Pouliot) 6:13 2nd
Much to the delight of a LOUD contingent of Boston fans in the building, who even added their trademark “Wooo” that their PA guy puts at the end of each goal announcement.
They give the goal to Dwyer. He must have tipped it past Sutter.
Canes tie it at 1 – Dwyer 5 (Sutter) 10:30 2nd
After being tipped by a Bruins player as well. It’s as fluky as fluky goals get, but hey, it counts.
by Brian LeBlanc on Jan 14, 2012 8:21 PM EST up reply actions
It really has. Ward’s been good, no doubt, but they’ve made sure that the rebounds have been shoved aside quickly. The Bergeron goal is the only one I can remember all night that wasn’t swallowed up or at least played to a stalemate.

Thank you. This IS really starting to look like a team that is difficult to play against.
+ I think too it’s the type of game that the players can be prideful of. Last couple of games everyone’s been working real hard and seeing good results.
Megaweapon… Megaweapon… Megaweapon…
So Doug—Man, can you imagine how much better we’d be playing right now if we only had LaRose in there, throwing his hits into Chara behind the goal after Chara passed the puck along??
That’s gotta account for something right? ; )
I heard Manascalco start in on how it is going to be better when LaRose returns when healthy. Seriously? These guys on the ice now are playing great and are playing intelligent hockey. So, yes, the thought did occur to me that it would be a great idea to let LaRose get healthier in the press box.
Passed it right onto a Bruins stick from behind his own net with no one anywhere near him, so….I guess what I’m saying is yeah.
by Brian LeBlanc on Jan 14, 2012 8:53 PM EST up reply actions
Not sure how this is possible but the Bruins – the Boston Bruins, for heaven’s sake!!!!! – have not taken a penalty tonight. Don’t think that’s ever happened, ever.
Jr should package both Larose and Mcbain for someone..Vrbata?
by CruelIn10tions on Jan 14, 2012 8:57 PM EST up reply actions
That combination would be lucky to get you a bag of pucks.

Joslin has looked good tonight, trade Mcbain, I know he’s still young, but then again look at Faulk’s play and he’s only 19..Mcbain d is brutal….
Every time they dump the puck in now, the Canes are doing it with a plan in mind. Usually, it involves a second guy going deep on the opposite side of the net, but it’s always something. What a change from those aimless dump-ins from years gone by, eh?
That’s why I hate when people always lament the dump—it’s a tactic—it’s how you dump, how you fight for it, and how many forecheckers are in the mix.
In their defense – and this was much more excusable during the first Maurice administration, when that was all the fans knew from the home team – when you see that sequence categorized repeatedly as “the dump and chase” you’re going to instinctively hate anything that’s labeled with that name.
People have the same reaction with “the trap”. There are types of the trap that can be entertaining, but hey look the ’95 Devils won the Cup playing the trap and they were boring as hell, so we hate the trap!!!!11

They’re reviewing. It accidentally hit Tlusty’s stick while he was ducking out of the way, and it may have been above the crossbar.
I have a feeling that scoring might change at some point. It looked like it changed direction off Tlusty’s stick in the slot. Doesn’t matter, though….they’ll take it no matter who scored it.
by Brian LeBlanc on Jan 14, 2012 9:13 PM EST up reply actions
Just checked with the official scorer and they ruled that it never hit Tlusty’s stick, so it will stand as Faulk’s goal. That’s why they get paid the big bucks and I’m but a lowly reporter.

Second period in a row we’ve weathered a storm then turned the momentum back our way ag.ain. Nodl and Samson are bigger parts of that as they’ve been playign very well against the boards to compliment Staal, Ruutu, Sutter…..
I wonder what will happen to Samson when Larose comes back, Samson is playing his heart out since being called up..The young french man has skills..
Y’know who the Canes’ best forward has been, at least in the Non-Brandon Sutter Division, tonight? Jerome Samson. I feel like he’s played every other shift.
I would point out that I posted this about five minutes before it actually hit the page. Stupid wi-fi latency.
by Brian LeBlanc on Jan 14, 2012 9:20 PM EST up reply actions
Samson really has been outstanding. Tlusty also did a great job, especially in setting screen in front of the goalie.
That’s what happens when you shoot the puck into the goaltender’s skate on an open net from three feet, I guess.

Where the hell did all the forward backchecking come from the last few games?? Something Mo supposedly wanted for years and never got. Yet it was key to everything the team did in the defensive zone:
Helping the defense clear rebounds, blocking shots, tying up sticks, coming back to get the puck out.
And he got this much backchecking without a high forward, with sending in two or three forecheckers consistently, with offensive pressure……
There seems to be evidence of very good coaching going on with this team lately. There seems to be buy in to the message. And even better.
There seems to be RESULTS!
Damn, I knew I should’ve drafted Harrison in the fantasy draft…
