Your humble correspondent left his computer charger at home tonight, so we’re running on a battery. For that reason you might not get the kind of incisive analysis from yours truly that usually makes itself at home in the game threads.
(Stop snickering.)
so in other words you
are gonna limit your bull shirt huh ?? LOL

Pros of living in Maryland:
I get to watch tonight’s game on the big screen downstairs.
Cons of living in Maryland:
It’s the CSN feed which means I have to deal with Craig Laughlin.

I'm going to say
Faulk scared Semin with his lightning quick approach.
You don’t want to get on Semin’s bad side. He fights like this.
Its called diving
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting"..........holy cow.......what a ride!"
Jacques Martin looks at that and is very disappointed in the effort.

Kinda surprised to see Dalpe out there on one of those PP shifts – trying to get the kid going
Megaweapon… Megaweapon… Megaweapon…
they are pretty good so I’ll forgive Tripp for yapping about them

Hope this isn't a jinx....
But the Canes have totally dominated the first 2 periods. The score could very easily be 6-0.
Jay Harrison looked like Gretzky on that play, skating around Caps like pylons

So Bob,
has Cory, our new GM, made any more trades? I am expecting to see LaRose and Spacek to go for a 3rd line winger and a 3rd round pick. Way to drive some controversy here! But sounds good if we can make it happen. Not sure what lines will look like when the Canes stop practicing at Rex and get everyone healthy.
After the shoty and the PP goal, let’s have a regular goal from the Juice for a hat trick. Or a penalty shot.
He can go for a Lemieux Hatrick
All he needs is an even strength, empty net and penalty shot goals.

Those, along with PP and SH are the five ways goals can be scored/recorded on the score sheet.

Staal has really seemed hit or miss tonight. I sure hope he is a hit in the 3rd.

On the other hand, with the exception of a couple of McBain brain farts the Canes’ defense has been just about letter perfect. The support has been as good as I’ve seen in a long time, and Ward looks great. Talk about a team game…this is one, for sure.
Caps get tagged for too many men with 1:01 to go and Vokoun pulled. How does that happen? Good lord.
Nice game and finally we beat Washington, a team that has just had our number for a long time. Now it’s just about consistency with this team, doing this night in and night out.

Great game by the captain. I thought he absolutely dominates for stetches in the Washington zone. Great game all around.
Dalpe’s got a quick shot also. Big props to the 4th line as well. Go Canes!!!

I like that Poni was on the 4th line. We finally have a coach that determines lines based on performance rather than seniority.

Poni was traded to the Devils for 4th round pick in ’12 plus d-man Joe Sova.
by DanTHEman67 on Jan 20, 2012 10:05 PM EST up reply actions
Oops
NHL.com forgot to change their pre-written headline. It says “Caps bounce Canes” on the bottom scroll bar.
Sova, 23, is 6-3 and 195 pounds. Signed by Devils as free agent in March after playing three years at Alaska-Fairbanks. Will go to Checkers.

Not sure what to make of this. Is this just a Poni for a 4th round pick and a career AHLer or do people think Sova will be able to be legit NHLer? Sorry, but I have never even heard of this guy.
"I'm not going to waste my time with Tuukka Rask" - Cam Ward
Was hoping Poni would net a better pick or perhaps a better prospect. Maybe the Canes think Sova can be good Dman though.

Salary Dump, no question about it. He kept sliding down the lineup,

Have to think Dalpe is going to have an extended stay.
by Patrick Clarke on Jan 20, 2012 10:31 PM EST up reply actions
So, LaRose must be back in the lineup tomorrow. Which also means Samson will be reassigned once healthy — at least temporarily since he was an Emergency Recall for Chad.

Not really a whole lot for Poni, but I guess reality is that he is just not that good. St least it opens a spot for one of the youngsters. I wish Poni the best of luck in New Jersey, I hope he can get his career back on track. I also hope the Canes still make a major move to acquire a true top line winger.
