Hurricanes At Islanders: Game Day Preview

One night after a big home win again the Capitals, the Carolina Hurricanes, (17-24-8) take on the New York Islanders, (17-21-6) tonight at Nassau Coliseum.

According to a tweet by Hurricanes broadcaster Tripp Tracy, Chad LaRose will be back in the lineup tonight. It is not known where he will fit in within the current line structure, but he will take the place of the newly departed Alexei Ponikarovsky, who scored a goal today for the Devils.

Poni was on the Carolina fourth line last night.

The starting goalie for Carolina has also not yet been announced. Will Kirk Muller go with Cam Ward, who is riding high after a shutout performance? Or will he go with youngster Justin Peters and rest his starter? The Hurricanes have another game coming up on Monday night.

The New Yorkers have won two games in a row and three of their last four. For more info, visit our friends at Lighthouse Hockey.

The is the 10th of 16 sets of back-to-backs for Carolina. So far they are 6-3-1 in the front half and 3-5-1 in the second of back-to-backs this season.

Jussi Jokinen is red hot and has points in three straight games, (3G 1A).

After winning all four meetings between these teams last season, the Canes have lost the only matchup so far this year, 4-3 in a shootout.

The game will be televised locally by FS Carolinas. We will have our open game thread ready to go at 6:30.

He’s a great guy. Hopefully he can regain his scoring touch (unless it is at our expense)

What’s the over/under on minutes into the broadcast for “As I tweeted earlier today…”

Link above is a “must launch”. Here’s a sample:

RT @TrippTracy For Record, injured Jaro Spacek ONLY Cane to enjoy conditioning “Bag” Skate this am with John MacLean! He earned his pregame meal! Trust me.
RT @TrippTracy Jussi Jokinen and Tuomo Ruutu met 2 Peewee Finnish Hockey Teams this am playing in tourney here in New York Tuomo guaranteed a goal 2night!
