Chrissy and I are in Charlotte this weekend to see the Checkers play the Oklahoma City Barons in matchups tonight and tomorrow afternoon. At the end of the second period, the Checkers lead 2-1.
The first period saw few scoring chances as the shots on goal were only 7 for the Checkers and 5 for the Barons. In the second period, the Checkers opened the scoring around the 4:30 minute mark when Zac Dalpe put a Drayson Bowman rebound into the back of the net. The Checkers were unable to score on a 5 on 3 powerplay and the Barons scored the next goal when Schultz hit Eberle with a good pass during a rush. The Checkers retook the lead late in the period when Zack Dalpe went top shelf on the rush, using Dalpe streaking down the left side as a decoy.
I will update after the game and also provide commentary on tomorrow's game.
