#Canes attempt to re sign Bryan Allen isn’t going as well as it did for Gleason and Ruutu. Look for him to be in play again

Hopefully this is false or far from the truth, I like what Allen brings to this team.

I agree. Strange that its not being reported by anyone else.

Not taking anything awa from Peters, but if his defense were sloppier I’m certain we would be behind. His challenging style makes for a whole BUNCH of rebounds.

I’m a fan of Thomas’ style to be honest. Doesn’t mean anyone else should attempt it though.

by NorwegianCaniac on Feb 25, 2012 7:58 PM EST up reply actions

Peters

With his play recently and having to clear waivers, wander if Boucher will be traded. He has one more cap friendly year and would be a valuable backup to say San Jose or Chicago. Plus Muse is playing excellent in Charlotte

by McCorkle on Feb 25, 2012 8:08 PM EST reply actions

We’d probably have to give Boucher away. And Peters needs to be resigned at the end of the year (RFA maybe?)

As good has PDawg has been

and I don’t know whether it is Daniels, Barasso, or Ward who should share credit with Peters himselves – until he has his name on silver trophies at the HHOF, Ward is the #1 goalie…

by jbwhite99 on Feb 25, 2012 9:09 PM EST up reply actions

Well, that’s asking a bit much. (All together now: Even Gretzky Was Traded). But yeah, there’s no reason to think Peters will have the keys to the kingdom here anytime soon.

by Brian LeBlanc on Feb 25, 2012 9:11 PM EST up reply actions

But after last year you have to feel good for him having this kind of run in the NHL

by Squeaky83 on Feb 25, 2012 9:12 PM EST up reply actions

Peters needs to worry about having a contract next season. Up until this stretch, I’d say it was up in the air. Might still be.

by Cory Lavalette on Feb 25, 2012 9:12 PM EST up reply actions

OK, Brian, maybe my comment was a little strong (and Gretzky was sold, not traded). I will just ignore St. Louis.

Cory, think can you get him to sign as an RFA with a 2-way contract and a raise? With a promise of some time in Raleigh?

by jbwhite99 on Feb 25, 2012 9:14 PM EST up reply actions

Question is if they want to. Muse is making his mark and Murphy has been as good as Peters in the A.

Tomas Fleischmann breaks the shutout at 13:58. After the play, Tim Gleason slashed Tomas Kopecky for no reason and somehow avoided getting a penalty. Kevin Dineen was a little less than pleased with the non-call.

This game has reminded me a lot of Mo hockey. Extremely boring at times, sitting back and just facing shots …could just be me though.

Another 3 point game. This is why it’s nearly impossible for the Canes to make the playoffs. I hope Rutherford knows this and deals some guys if he can.

Despite being very upbeat about the Canes lately, this game and last game made me go Huh???

Effort looks less than what we had been seing, coordination and passing seem off, Staal looks like he’s going at 100%, but there seems to be other not quite so much.

We just look too non-chalant and not engaged….

by Squeaky83 on Feb 25, 2012 9:36 PM EST up reply actions

I’m speechless after watching 60 mins of garbage hockey by the Canes. No legs getting to the pucks in the corners..Maybe we come to play for 5 mins.

by Squeaky83 on Feb 25, 2012 9:37 PM EST up reply actions

also for some reason all night long the passing has seemed too late—holding the puck too long before passing, and when we do pass, it’s too slow and weak allowing the Kitties to get to the pass. Or we not coming back for the pass good enough….

Well that took care of that small glimmer of hope. First Mo flashback of the new era. Sheesh. Checkers and canes losing in SO both important games.

by WStout on Feb 25, 2012 9:57 PM EST via mobile reply actions

This team is better without Pitkanen. Their ability to get it done in OT is incredible. We should sign Spacek to an extension because he’s better because he’s good in the locker room.

by Kahz on Feb 25, 2012 10:03 PM EST reply actions

Just Back from the RBC

It was a heartbreaking loss. Still, the Hurricanes are close to being a very good team. The lack of ability to win in the shootout is lethal. Wolski, i.e. obtainable by a third round draft pick in 2013 and an AHL defense prospect, saved that game for Florida. The Hurricanes are simply too small at forward to compete against teams being built the way Florida is built. Mattias was on waivers some time ago, and I thought he’d be a good pick up. Peters deserves credit for hanging in against a barrage of shots.

by abramsdoug on Feb 25, 2012 10:24 PM EST reply actions

I know its hard to find a bright spot right now. The team is piling on points but just too late. If JR can add a true top 6 forward with a bounce back year from the juIce and a healthy skinner and pitkanen we could see a good season. It just sucks going year to year with so many “ifs” to just try to make the playoffs. Hopefully PK will open his wallet to really make this team a contender on talent and not just on effort alone but like many times stated that is most likely just a pipe dream.

by bready86 on Feb 25, 2012 10:25 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Well this fan is very very disappointed to say the least as the Canes & Checkers

both lost "winnable’ games by NOT playing like both have..the canes didn’t play florida ;oke they did Boston..the Checkers failed to repeat last nights effort to beat OKC as soundly as they did last night….and what seperates the Canes at least…is they fail to play as they did & have with boston..with any proplonged "consistancy’ ..now Capt. Kirk needs to put the fear of god in trhe canes..or it’s time we fans put the fear of god in the canes front office…what talent the canes do have is and has proven it can play with the best of them..so what aside from a super star type top 6 missing for staal…what othwer excuses can we fans/canes come up with ??
