The power play is not looking very good

I’m not feeling those power play lines.

I don’t need this again. Don’t break my heart yet another time, Canes!

although if the teams ahead of us keep winning, we might just still get that top 3 pick.

I'm OK with top five
I feel with the good looking defensive prospects out there that even top five we get a goooood looking forward prospect.
BTW
Nice play by Tlusty as well to get it to the net with Ruu screening—as mentioned elsewhere, Tlusty isn’t looking out of place on the top line. Be nicer with a sniper for him to pass too, but he could work there going forward.
Agree, good things happening when you get the puck to the net. Sweet shot by Tlusty to set that up.

Happy to get out of that period 1-0

Muller likes him a lot but how could he not. Muller also had some nice things to say about the Canes fans,

I love how Forlsund always comments on Rosie’s hits… “rugged hit by Rosie along the boards”
“Big hit by Rosie”… They never accomplish anything—like this one, it was after the puck was passed away again…. But it is an indication that Rosie is always working and doing exactly what he’s asked to do, over and over.
But I wish Stewart played with Rosie’s intensity.
Hits are 28-17 CAnes
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting"..........holy cow.......what a ride!"
This is a great game
to watch. Fast paced and both teams look good.
The 4th line even looks pretty good with Stewie, Brent and LaRose.
Plus there’s a game on NBC Sports (SJ and CGY) which is great.
DUcks score
Good play, not really anything to fault the Canes on… Very hard working shift by the ducks, stopping, starting, winning battles… Ebb and flow
No one touching
either guy down low. Clear that crease boys
Sorry, had to flip the channel to watch my boys in Durham pick up another win in Chapel Hill.
Of course Anaheim scores when I turn the channel…

Everyone leaves the zone
but none of them have the puck. Hagman with a sick move but hits crossbar
The ducks came on strong there in the last 5 mins…We better play a great 3rd period, less turnovers in our own end would help..
Ouch

Nice tip
by the forward in front. Ward was out a ways, but that tip dropped the puck about a foot
It seems like there is a direct correlation between the number of hits and wins. Any stats guy know if that’s true?

Teams that hit more
are generally more aggressive and generally less like a Paul Maurice-led Canes squad. Ergo, they are better. Just my observation.

I have to say that I’m impressed with the Canes D against the Ducks top lines. I don’t know the stats but it looks to me like Ryan, Selanne, et al are being shut down pretty well.

bobby ryan needs to get called for diving
guy looks like a clown falling every two seconds
No excuse
to be diving to try to get calls. He dove and acted like Harrison high-sticked him. Threw his hands up like he was shot. Then on that last dump and chase he made it seem like he was held as he went to one knee.
by The Gottfather on Feb 9, 2012 12:24 AM EST up reply actions
No way, Ryan clearly got shot with a shotgun at the last play. Totally legal.

refs just lost us this game.
how the FU@K do you miss that shit!?!?!?! i hate the refs in the NHL, if they aren’t favoring a team they just flat out suck and miss all kinds of calls. unbelievable…..

Is such a friggin company apologist. He tries to say that the call was an anomaly. Even the Anaheim thread agrees at the injustice. Have we ever benefited from such a garbage call? I do not recall. Now I am riled up and cannot sleep…. Ship!

Tim Peel
When the officiating crew was announced, I saw Tim Peel was one of the officials. I told my wife then that Peel would make at least one game determinative or potentially game determinative call against the Hurricanes. He is as predictable as the ocean tides. Season after season Peel is there at the center of controversy on missed calls or phantom calls. He does not limit his incompetence to the Hurricanes; but they are definitely the target of his affection.
Pretty Bad non-call...
The penalty was acknowledged at the time by Perry—looking for the ref’s signal… AAcknowledged by home team announcer, Boudreau, and everyone watching…
Puck Daddy has an entire post on it….
Somebody needs to take Peel to the woodshed and tell him to stop putting away your whistle in OT. The whole “I don’t want a penalty call to influence the outcome” mentality is BS. The lack of a penalty call EQUALLY or worse afects the outcome of games.
We probably would have lost in a shootout anyway, but dagnabbit, to lose to an absolute crap ref decision to look the other way is complete horse hockey.
Just once, I would like to see an NHL coach or player
say “screw the fine” and call out one of the joke officials.
How cool would it have been for Coach Muller to come into his presser and say:
“We lost this game in the first three periods when we let two leads escape. We had a chance to win. But good god almighty, Tim Peel should never officiate another game in this league.”
The Condor. #63.
being a last place team doesn’t get us as many calls, i would imagine, as we would get if perhaps we were challenging for a playoff spot? i know, heat of the moment, refs shouldn’t think of such things…still…
I agree w/the poster who says Jussi needed to get that puck out. A lot of times we play with it too much in our own end in certain situations.
On to the draft!!!
"The Carolina Hurricanes will keep President and General Manager Jim Rutherford for at least four more years after resigning him to a contract extension that runs through the 2015-16 season."
A record of 21-6 gets us close to sniffing the playoffs. Still doable.
