Bowman started things off just a minute and change into the game as he stole a pass and backhanded a pretty shot past Matt Hackett to make the score 1-0, but the Wild would score three goals in a row to take a commanding 3-1 lead, until Bowman scored again 17:14 into the second period.
Sutter had a "Gordie Howe hat trick" as the young center had a fight in the opening period as well as an assist in the second, and his goal in the third.
Brian Boucher earned his first win of the season, his first as a Hurricane, with a 23 save performance.
The Canes will next do battle with the Winnipeg Jets Sunday night.
- Chad LaRose led the team with 10 shots on goal. The Canes outshot the Wild 34-26.
- The team had 19 hits with rookie Justin Faulk leading the way with three.
- Faulk also led the team with 25:02 of ice time.
- The Canes had 17 blocked shots led by Bryan Allen and Jay Harrison with four each.
