The Carolina Hurricanes went off the board a bit with their second round pick obtained from the San Jose Sharks and selected winger Brock McGinn of the Guelph Storm with the 47th overall selection in the draft.
McGinn was rated 112 by the Red Line Report and 164 by the ISS. He is listed at 5'11 and 170 lbs.
The Red Line Report says that he is "a speedy, under rated two way wing who makes things happen."
The ISS says that he is a "hard nosed checking forward - average skater - strong in the corners and in front of the net - willing to go through the wall - competes hard for the puck - completes his checks well - Guelph's 3rd round pick, 46th overall in OHL Draft."
In 2011-12 he scored 12 goals and he had three assists in 33 games. He missed two months because of a wrist injury.
