Hurricanes Choose Goalie Daniel Altshuller With 69th Overall Pick In NHL Draft

The Hurricanes restocked their goalie shelf Saturday, selecting Oshawa Generals netminder Daniel Altshuller with their third round pick, the 69th overall, in the NHL Draft.

Altshuller was 11-6-2-1 with a 3.55 goals-against average and .900 save percentage as a rookie for Oshawa in 2011-12. He took over as the Generals starter in the postseason and nearly led an upset over Niagara, unseating starter Kevin Bailie and going 2-2 in five appearances with a .918 save percentage and 3.87 save percentage.

Altshuller was considered for Canada's entry at the Under 18 tournament in the Czech Republic, but ultimately wasn't chosen.

Altshuller is listed at 6'3, 190 pounds, and was initially selecte by Belleville in the third round of the 20120 OHL draft. He was dealt to Oshawa, along with a fifth round pick, for future draft picks.
