It's not yet noon and already the news is flying in Carolina. Jim Rutherford has tweeted that Jordan Staal has agreed to a long term contract extension. The scuttlebutt is that the deal mirrors the 10 year $60M deal that he turned down in Pittsburgh, but nothing yet is official. We'll update you when the official word comes out.

In the mean time Bob McKenzie has tweeted that Zach Parise will go to free agency. Tripp Tracy tweeted earlier that this is a day that the Canes fans will remember. Was he talking about the Jordan Staal signing or is there more to come?
