Why hasn't Jeremy Welsh signed yet? Maybe a better question is.... Why haven't we signed Jeremy Welsh yet? Only thing I can think of is he is holding out to see what happens with the new CBA.
I know we only have a paltry 1 game NHL Sampling of this player but I think he has the tools to be a quality player for years in our organization. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. He has size, speed, skill, scoring, Hockey IQ and the ability to learn. I have speculated that he could and most likely will be the 3rd line center. I know we have some depth with the recent additions but I was looking forward to seeing him in at least 20-25 games to see what type of player we have. I personally think he can be a better player than say a Matt Read who took a similar track to the NHL. Jeremy is still young (only 24) and is 6'3" a bigger guy that can skate. He has produced in collage 4th overall last season with 44 points in 40 games (scoring 27.)
I have wondered the quietness on this particular situation. Generally you hear rumors about contracts offered/rejected, or ideas on what we are prepared to offer ect. Just curious if any of you in "the know" has heard anything on the matter. My recent internet searches have turned up little but this...
"With RFA Jeremy Welsh looking less likely to return to the 'Canes next season, speculation has begun to circulate that Jussi Jokinen could make an eyebrow-raising role change to third-line center."
Why is he less likely to return? I know he was at developmental camp and apparently he looked great. Whats the deal?
