According to a report on Macleans.ca, no team offered better home opener incentives to come back to the NHL than the Carolina Hurricanes.

Some Carolina Hurricanes fans may have grumbled that there wasn't discounted beer or free parking at Tuesday's home opener at PNC Arena, but according to a report no team in the NHL gave back more to their fans.

In this interactive chart, Maclean’s compared each team's offered giveaways and discounts and compared them relative to the player salaries from that night's roster. Maclean’s deduced that if fans took advantage of every available Hurricanes offer, the team would have sacrificed about $2 million revenue — more than three times (311 percent, to be exact) the cost of the players' salaries for that one night.

That ranked highest among the 23 teams Maclean’s analyzed and was far and away the best value of the team’s in the so-called non-traditional markets. Discounts and specials by fellow Southeast teams Tampa Bay and Washington both came in at just 29 percent, whereas Canadian teams held five of the top-10 spots spots.

Maclean’s cited the Hurricanes’ ticket deals, 50 percent off merchandise and $1 concessions as the force behind the team’s top showing.
