I think its time we started to target MiddleStaal, particularly now that Pits may be out for a while.

Staal will be able to munch some serious minutes and shore up our back end with the solid defensive Dman we've been needing for a while.

We all know its only a matter of time before he'll join the rest of his family, but if we wait to grab him as a UFA it won't be until 2015 according to capgeek. He'll be a perfit fit in terms of the role he'd play and within the locker room so I believe it would be worth spending the assets to acquire him now.

The question is what do we have available that the blueshirts would want? Clearly a 1st round draft pick would be a given. I would want to use at least one of our glut of offensive Dmen (assuming Rangers are in need of one) and since we acquired Sanguinetti from the Rangers I doubt they want him back so that only really leaves McBain.

So thats a 1st round pick and Jamie McBain for Marc Staal so far. If they bite at that, great! But I doubt it... so what else would it take thats available? Jokinen? Dalpe? Welsh? Nash? Victor Rask? More future draft picks? What do you think it would take to get Marc?

If we did get Marc check out our lines for this season and the future (assuming McBain is involved)
