How Do You Solve A Problem Like Chad Larose? (w/apologies to Rogers & Hammerstein)

How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Maria?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!

So we have #59, a beloved fan favorite and fourth line hustle machine from days gone by on injured reserve. Although we all can agree that we wish him a speedy recovery and good health, we can't seem to agree what to do with him when he gets back. The longtime fans of Rosie say he deserves a spot on the team, while his detractors (me included) want him gone in favor of the new blood.

How do we solve this problem?

1) Scratch him: My thoughts are to simply make Chad a healthy scratch and plug him into the third or fourth line when injuries take hold, thus keeping him on the roster for Mike Maniscalco's show and other fan-friendly events, while letting talented younger players who are currently making strong contributions continue to do so.

2) Trade him: This is almost out of the question, both from the perspective of Larose being in effect a Karamanos family member and also because he wouldn't bring much on the open market. He's an energy guy who has trouble scoring and gets bounced off the puck rather easily. Not sure what teams are looking for that.

3) Play him: This is my least favorite option only because it means sitting someone like Bowman, Dwyer, Terry, Wallace, Sutter (who looked good to me on the fourth line) etc.

Any other ideas?
