I realize that there have been rumors about a Jeff Skinner/ Keith Yandle or Marc Staal trade, so I was going to approach this with a different view. Jeff Skinner is entering his first year of the 6 year/ $34.35 contract (Hurricanes Website) and is currently expected to play on the third line. That seems like a lot to pay a 3rd liner. I think it would be a good idea to propose a trade where Skinner is shipped up to the NYR in exchange for Dan Girardi and an Aaron Asham-type player. This would give us a third line of Riley Nash, Patrick Dwyer, and Aaron Asham, as well as a top 4/ top 2 defensive defenseman in his prime. On top of all of that, salary cap space remains relatively the same. With Brad Richards constantly having issues moving up in New York's depth chart, Jeff Skinner could finally make the jump to center in New York, so this trade works out for all parties involved. What do you guys think?
