Capitol Broadcasting Gets Stranglehold On Triangle Sports Radio Market

So long 850 The Buzz. In a three-way transaction that whittles the Triangle's three sports radio stations to two, local media giant Capitol Broadcasting — owner of WRAL, FOX 50, 99.9 The Fan, the Durham Bulls and much more — has acquired 620 The Bull, while Curtis Media gets 850 with plans to convert it to a music platform. The moves mean CBC now operates both sports talk stations in the region. It's too early to know for sure, but fewer voices usually means less coverage and lesser quality. The proof will be in the pudding. UPDATE: Carolina Hurricanes Manager of Media Relations/Broadcast Coordinator Kyle Hanlin confirmed to me that there will be no changes to the Hurricanes broadcasts. The team will continue to be carried on 99.9 The Fan.

UPDATE: Here is a link to Tye's official webpage Tye and a place to listen to the song in question Tye Banks My Space UPDATE 2: Banks is also suing the Canes over breach of contract and improper use of his song. The two parties have been trying to negotiate an agreement for months and apparently are now looking for the courts to settle the dispute for them. Bad Rap?
