While Cyn4Canes and I were looking for a good picture for her countdown clock, we ran across this pic I took at the opener of the '09-'10 season. Un-LOUD and Un-STRONG... it's like they knew all along... ;) Let's hope this season is LOUDer and STRONGer!
A few photos from the "Hockey is for Everyone" clinic at the Cary Ice House on May 15, 2010. Some really cute kids having a good time learning and playing hockey. Outside of Willie O'Ree and Tony McKegney, I'm not sure who some of the other coaches are, so please feel free to post here or post comments on flickr if you can help identify. Also, please feel free to pass this along if you know some of the kids or their parents. Enjoy! Hockey is for Everyone - May 15, 2010

Some photos from Saturday's game including the "jerseys off their backs" afterwards. Unfortunately from my vantage point I couldn't get the players interacting with the fans but I caught a few coming and going. Canes vs. Devils - April 3, 2010
Jen and I had to dig a little deeper for this week's featured player, but I think everyone will agree it was so worth it. Please let me introduce you to Andrew Ferrence of the Boston Bruins who will be coming to town on Tuesday. He just happens to be a St. Patricks' Day baby (insert lewd "luck of the Irish" joke here) and will turn 31 the day after he (hopefully) gets his butt kicked by the 'Canes. Ferrence has only put up 7 points from the blueline this season, but he has missed quite a few games with nagging injuries (including Tripp's favorite ailment). As you can tell Andrew has quite a few tattoos (13 to be exact), but he is more than just a pretty (half naked) face. He is very active in environmental issues and was instrumental is setting up the NHL's carbon-neutral program. This program allows over 500 players to purchase carbon credits to help offset the negative environmental impact of professional sports. He also spoke about environmental issues at Canada's New Democratic Party's federal convention this past summer. So enjoy this unique combination of brains and brawn ladies!
I posted an NHL realignment plan over on Japers' Rink, and it would mean big changes for Carolina. I'd love to hear your input (in the comments over there) on whether the plan would work.
Tripp Tracy bingo cards. I will try to keep them up-to-date with new Tripp-isms as people suggest them. You can generate the latest set of cards by going to my gallery page and following the instructions at the top. The print-bingo.com link there will change as new Tripp-isms are added. If you have suggestions for more Tripp-isms, post here and I'll update it! :)
Player of the week part deux.... This Saturday Canes will be hosting the Phoenix Coyotes and left wing Taylor Pyatt. The 28 year old was signed as a free agent to a one year deal with the Coyotes in September of this year. To date he has 9G & 8A, he scored his 100th career goal 3/10/10. He hails from none other than Thunder Bay Ont. (anyone surprised?) His dad was drafted by the Red Wings in 1973 and also played for the Capitals and Colorado Rockies (haven't heard that in a while), his brother Tom (who's eyes are equally as pretty) currently plays for the Montreal Canadiens. His favorite player is Mark Messier, fav band is Cold Play. He has a dog named Ranger (awww). enjoy!
