Canes Country Radio

Canes Country Radio 1/6/12 - Guests: Jeremy K. Gover and Dave Droschak

It's been way too long since I had time to do a Canes Country Radio episode, so this week you get two for the price of one.

In the first segment, we talk to Jeremy K. Gover of Section303.com, previewing the Canes' only trip to Tennessee this season as they face the Predators in Nashville tomorrow night.

Secondly, we talk to HurricanesBeat.com's Dave Droschak, who is probably the most opinionated man on press row and a great guy to boot. Dro doesn't pull any punches, ever, even taking the press meal to task when it's subpar. With that kind of introduction, you just know he's got some good stuff on the current state of the Canes, and he doesn't disappoint.

You can listen to Canes Country Radio now in the Flash player at http://www.canescountryradio.com, through iTunes or by subscribing in your RSS reader.

Enjoy!

Canes Country Radio 11/17/11 - Guest: Kurt Dusterberg

This week on Canes Country Radio, I'm joined by Kurt Dusterberg, who is half of the HurricanesBeat.com tag team with Dave Droschak and also writes for NHL.com.  Kurt has covered the Canes since the Greensboro days and offers his perspective on what moves the Canes might make in the midst of their current plight.

Listen to find out who Kurt thinks may be trade bait, how hot Paul Maurice's seat is, and much more.

Canes Country Radio 11/7/11 - Guest: Jesse Spector

It's a special Monday edition of Canes Country Radio, featuring Jesse Spector, the national hockey writer for Sporting News.  This past weekend there was a discussion on Twitter regarding, ironically, the impact of Twitter and "new journalism" - beat writer blogs, independent websites like Canes Country, and team-website journalists - on the way hockey journalism has been conducted in the past.  It was a fascinating discussion and I thought it was worthy of discussions of more than 140 characters, so we went in depth on the topic on this week's program

We also preview Tuesday night's game between the Hurricanes and Devils in Newark.

Canes Country Radio 11/3/11

Another Thursday means another episode of Canes Country Radio for your pregame listening pleasure.  This week, Bob, Carolyn and I discuss the impact of Jussi Jokinen's injury and what it could mean for players further down the lineup who are competing for ice time in its wake.  We also touch on the discussion of whether the Canes actually have a #1 line anymore given the ice time distribution of late, and some surprises - good and bad - from the first month of the season.

Listen now in the Flash player at http://www.canescountryradio.com.  You can also listen through iTunes or by subscribing in your RSS reader.

Enjoy!

Canes Country Radio 10/27/11 - Guest: Greg Wyshynski

Back by popular demand, another episode of Canes Country Radio awaits for your listening pleasure.  Greg Wyshynski, the editor of Yahoo! Sports' Puck Daddy blog, joins me today to talk about the Canes' middling start, the pressure on Paul Maurice, and much, much more.  We had a great time producing this show and I hope you enjoy listening to it.

Listen now at http://www.canescountryradio.com.  You can also subscribe to the show through iTunes or through your RSS reader.

Feedback is welcome, and if you have any techie issues with the show please post here and I'll try to solve it.  Thanks for listening!

Canes Country Radio 10/5/11: 2011-12 Hurricanes Preview

As promised, this week's episode of Canes Country Radio is a preview of the upcoming season for the Hurricanes.  Bob, Cory and I had a great time recording it and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did putting it together.

You can listen now through the player at http://www.canescountryradio.com and you can now subscribe to the podcast through an RSS reader (Google Reader or the like).  The RSS feed for the show is http://feeds.feedburner.com/canescountryradio/.  I've submitted the podcast to iTunes and it should be up there once it goes through Apple's submission queue, which takes a day or so.  I'll let you know when it's ready.

Enjoy!

We need your help for the next Canes Country Radio

Bob, Cory and I will be recording another episode of Canes Country Radio that will be available most likely sometime tomorrow.  (If you haven't listened to our Southeast Division preview yet, what are you waiting for?  Head to CanesCountryRadio.com stat.)

This episode will focus solely on the Hurricanes, and we want your help.  What questions do you have about the Canes that you'd like us to answer during the show?  Feel free to leave any questions as comments in this post, and we'll get to as many as we can.  Note that we aren't doing a live show this time; if you remember our misadventures with that format last year, you can understand why.

Also, by tomorrow we'll have an iTunes feed so that you'll be able to subscribe to CC Radio and have new episodes automatically downloaded.  Stay tuned.

Thanks for your help with this!

Canes Country Radio season premiere

After entirely too much techie work behind the scenes to get it up and running, we're pleased to announce the season premiere of Canes Country Radio.  We hope to make this a weekly feature here on Canes Country, depending on work schedules and what not, and we begin this season with a preview of the Southeast Division.

Thanks to Steve Whyno from the Washington TimesDamian Cristodero from the St. Petersburg TimesDonny Rivette from SB Nation's Litter Box Cats, and the Winnipeg Sun's Ken Wiebe for their assistance on this week's show.

The shows can be found at http://www.canescountryradio.com/ and will eventually (as in, sometime this weekend) be available on iTunes for download.  I'll let you know when we have that functionality available.  Also in the pipeline is a player in the right sidebar on Canes Country so that you can listen no matter what page you're on.

Feel free to let me know what you think...suggestions, comments, complaints, etc. are welcome.
