Cards of the Week
Cards Of The Week - Catching Up
One thing I did last summer which fell through the cracks this year was the "Cards of the Week" feature. Last year, some readers emailed me photos of their favorite cards and I would post them here. This summer, I did get a couple of emails asking about the feature, but no photos yet.
One avid Canes Country reader, "Ted", sent me an email informing me that he enjoyed the previous articles so much that he started his own "Canes Cards" blog. If you would like to see what Ted is up to as well as some of his cards, check out his site here, Canes Cards Blog.
I enjoy hockey cards myself, so I decided to capture a few shots of some cards that recently caught my eye on Ebay. Obviously, Calder winner Jeff Skinner's cards are drawing a lot of attention, as well as a lot of money. Rookie cards have always been popular, but some of the card companies are doing a great job of creating newer cards of former players as well.
Check some of them out after the jump:
Cards of the Week: Action Cards and Signatures
This week we look at a few of the favorite cards from Jim's collection which include Eric Staal, Tuomo Ruutu, Brandon Sutter, Erik Cole, Rod Brind`Amour, and Ron Francis. Jim likes "action" cards and has included some of those to share with us.
Right after the jump, check out Jim's cards along with his notes.
Cards of the Week: Rod Brind'Amour and Zach Boychuk Rookies
We were sent quite a few cards to share with readers, so this feature will now be published more than just one time per week. I changed the name appropriately to "cards" of the week.
Next up are two cards sent in by "Kevin", one old and one new. I like them because they kind of symbolize the changing of the guard with the Hurricanes. The first Kevin says is an Upper Deck rookie card of Rod Brind`Amour. The veteran was nice enough to sign this for him after a game.
Card of the Week: Staal, Cole, and Sutter
To help us get through the summer, I thought it might be interesting to start a new feature called "Card of the Week". (Although we might actually do this more than once per week). I came across this card on Ebay the other night and had a good chuckle. The card is included in the latest and greatest from the 2009-10 edition of Be A Player cards, and they are selling at a pretty good pace right now.
But their quality control might need some improvement.
If you have a unique card or an old one you think people would be interested in seeing, send me a photo at canescountry@gmail.com. If it gets posted, you will be in the running for a prize that we will give out at the end of the summer for the best additions. (a t-shirt or a puck). Good luck!
