David Thorpe of ESPN wrote an Insider article about who the Cavs should be looking at in the upcoming draft in regards to who we should pick and who we would be looking at in the second round. I know the draft will be well-documented here on FTS, but it's a nice read for anyone who's got Insider.
Derek Zona over at the Oilers blog Copper & Blue wrote a series about guys that he wanted to see the Oilers target in this draft. One of the writeups was about Red Wings' fourt-rounder Marek Tvrdon. Head over to give it a read.
Come and go as you please. For more information on picks, please see Bolt Prospects (linked to above)
Isles draft Strome, Couturier goes 6th, Dougie 9th. Grimaldi doesn't appear. If he truly does drop to the 2nd (hint: probably not), I say we move up.
Jeff Carter to Columbus for Jakub Voracek and 1st and 3rd round picks, then Mike Richards to LA for top prospect centre Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds, and a 2nd round pick, and finally signing Ilya Bryzgalov to a 9-year, $51 million deal. The Carter deal was pretty solid (Columbus had the 8th overall pick), but I think they're going to regret the Richards and Brygalov deals. To relate this to Winnipeg: please don't do stuff like that, Mr. Cheveldayoff.
From Derek/C&B: (B2011DW's Kirk) Luedeke thinks the Florida Panthers and General Manager Dale Tallon are a likely dance partner if (Edmonton's Steve) Tambellini decides to pull the trigger. Florida has the #3rd overall pick plus #33 and #47 and a wealth of enormous young defensemen in the system in addition to a a stable of enormous forwards drafted by Tallon in last year's entry draft, a draft in which Florida had 13 picks.
I know some people were discussing whether there would be a draft party a few weeks ago, so here's the official link to get tickets for it. It's on June 24th (draft day, obviously) at the Prudential Center. They have a bunch of stuff going on and tickets are free, so go celebrate the Devils highest pick in 20 years on Mulberry Street with your Devils brethren.
