Heartbreaker

Chris Drury broke the hearts of Ranger fans everywhere last night. Drury found a loose puck and rifled it perfectly into the upper corner of the net with about 8 seconds left, tying a game most Ranger fans must have surely thought they had won. As an impartial observer watching the game, I couldn't help but get wrapped up in the drama. Buffalo ended up winning the game in overtime, now taking a commanding 3-2 lead in the tightly contested series. Impartial or not, I have always been a huge Chris Drury fan. It's not the first clutch goal he has made in his career and it certainly won't be his last. The game reminded me a lot of the Hurricane's win over New Jersey last year when Eric Staal scored a goal with seconds left in a game to tie it, as the Canes went on to win that game in OT as well. The Devils never recovered and ended up dropping that series. Can the Rangers regroup? I doubt it, but I must admit that the Rags have given the Sabres a much better series than I anticipated. We'll find out on Sunday afternoon if Drury's goal put the final dagger into the will of the New York players. Hopefully, it will be another good game.

Earlier this morning, Team USA beat Team Germany 3-0 and Johnny Grahame earned his first shut out of this World Championship series! Paul Stastny had two goals and Lee Stempniak had the 3rd for the good guys. Erik Cole had 3 assists. Obviously this was a great win for the Americans but they jump from the frying pan into the fire on Monday afternoon as they take on Team Canada. Good luck Team USA!
