Jim Rutherford's wheels are turning now and I have a feeling there are other moves on the horizon. The Carolina Hurricanes placed backup goalie, John Grahame and his 3.83 GAA, on waivers today. Grahame had a save percentage of .875, near the worst in the league. According to Luke DeCock, they are recalling goalie Michael Leighton from Albany. Leighton has been one of the best goalies in the AHL, and leads that league with 5 shutouts.
Eklund, from the Hockeybuzz site is rumoring that the Canes are interested in Curtis Joseph. I imagine if Leighton gets picked up by another team on re-entry waivers, the Canes interest in CuJo would pick up substantially. (correction, no re-entry waivers for Leighton).
This is a move that is a bit late in coming, but late is better than never. It will be interesting to see how Leighton does, when he makes it here.
In other news, Andrew Ladd had the (already scheduled) operation on his face this morning, and is supposed to miss tomorrow's game in Atlanta. Scott Walker has a sore knee and may also miss the game. Look for more reinforcements from Albany soon. I'll be commenting about the happenings as I see them. Ciao!
>>>UPDATE>>> No re-entry waivers to worry about for Leighton. He'll be in Atlanta tomorrow night.
