Edmonton and Carolina go at it tonight at the RBC. The Oilers defeated the Canes 3-1 last year in Alberta, but this will be the first time since game 7 of the 2006 finals that the teams square off again in Raleigh.
That seems so very, very long ago.
The Hurricanes have lost 4 in a row overall, 4 in a row at home, and 8 out of their last 10. (I count OT losses as a loss.)
Mike Leighton will be in goal tonight. Casey Borer was sent back to Albany to make room for Nic Wallin.
In my opinion, Borer accounted for himself very well when he was here, but he's probably better off to be back with the Rats at this point. The negativity around here is enough to turn any promising prospect into dung.
Speaking of the River Rats, I miss them. (Aucoin, Nolan, Conboy, and now Borer) They brought a fresh burst of energy with them during their stay. I hope they continue to do well up in New York.
What's there to say about the Hurricanes right now that hasn't already been said? All we can do is ask questions...
Do they want to give 100%?
Have they given up on their coach?
Do some of them want to be traded?
Do they care much about anything anymore?
While Peter Laviolette may have lost his room, I will say this about the coach. Give me him and the River Rats team, and I bet they could do some damage.
We'll find out if the Canes can turn a page tonight. That's all I have time for right now. Ciao!
