Some News From The Holiday Weekend

NHL.com has a nice article about the connection between Wayne Gretzky and former Hurricanes goalie coach and current Plymouth Whalers head coach Greg Stefan. The two first met as 6-year-olds and wound up playing against each other in the NHL, where Stefan was a netminder for the Red Wings.

Also, good to see Luke DeCock still weighing in on the Canes. He put up a blog entry on Saturday that clarifies the Zac Dalpe situation for anyone who's confused about the prospect's choice to attend Ohio State over joining Stefan with the OHL's Whalers. DeCock also had an entry on the holes in the TV schedule, and new Canes beat writer Chip Alexander had a short Q&A with Chad LaRose and the latest Monday debate. They can all be found at Lord Stanley's Blog.

Finally, there was an article late last week on NHL.com about Malcolm Cameron, the new head coach of the Florida Everblades. Florida is the ECHL affiliate for both the Panthers and Hurricanes.
