Preseason Game #1: Predators at Hurricanes - Open Thread

New, comments

The Carolina Hurricanes start off their relatively short exhibition schedule tonight as the Nashville Predators come to town.  This will be game one of only four preseason games scheduled.

The Canes will be starting several players who will be expected to start on opening night, including goaltender, Cam Ward.  Here are the projected lines for the home team:

  • Staal, Cole, Ruutu
  • Cullen, LaRose, Whitney
  • Ryan, Blanchard, Dwyer
  • Sutter, Boychuk, Conboy
  • Corvo, Gleason
  • Ward, Harrison
  • Rodney, Carson
  • Ward

The Preds are coming off a 5-0 win over the Thrashers in Nashville last night.  They will also have a few projected starters in the game including star Finnish goalie, Pekka Rinne.  Vets, David Legwand and Martin Erat should join rookie Jonathan Blum in the lineup.

While the first two lines are dynamic for the Canes, it should be interesting to watch young Zach Boychuk and Brandon Sutter, as they battle for a roster spot.  There is no local television or streaming, but there is advertised streaming at this site as well as this one.

Cory and I will be reporting from the game and while we won't be "live-blogging" per se, we will be making comments in this "Live Game Thread" throughout the contest.  You can also listen to Chuck online at 99.9 The Fan.

Will Carolina start off the preseason with a win?

Note:  The new video board will also be making it's debut tonight and reportedly is worth the price of admission all by itself.
