The Atlanta Thrashers are in town to battle with the Carolina Hurricanes in the final stateside preseason game for the Canes. The team leaves for Russia almost immediately following the game and will play against St. Petersburg of the KHL in another tune up contest, on Monday.
This game has an unusual 1:30 start time, but the good news for Caniacs is that admission is free. The club has been handing out tickets at various events throughout the past month, but reportedly there were still tickets left and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Hurricanes will be starting several of their regulars for this game, in hopes of finding some chemistry and continuity. The lines should start out like the following:
- Staal-O`Sullivan-Cole
- Sutter-Ruutu-Bowman
- Jokinen-Skinner-LaRose
- Dalpe-Dwyer-Tlusty
- Gleason-Corvo
- McBain-Pitkanen
- Sanguinetti-Carson
Cam Ward is expected to go the whole way in goal. Anton Babchuk, Jay Harrison, and Tom Kostopoulos are the healthy scratches.
Sergei Samsonov has been put on the injured reserve list and will not make the trip to Europe.
Hockeymom has prepared a printable, gameday guide for those of you wishing to bring a lineup sheet to the game.

The Thrashers will be leaving Dustin Byfuglien home, the culprit who tripped Samsonov, sending him head first into the boards. But they will be bringing most of their starters with them as well. The Blueland Blog has the listing of players who are making the trip to Raleigh.
