Early Power Rankings Take Notice Of Hurricanes

A few power rankings have recently been released and the Hurricanes are getting some early season respect.  Of course these rankings are pretty subjective and can be taken with a grain of salt, but it is interesting to see what others think of the Canes, as well as other teams, around the media world.

Every week the hockey writers of SB Nation vote for teams in their respective conferences and the Canes placed 3rd in the East this week.  The Caps and Flyers finished at number one and two in the poll.

Fox Sports has the Canes at 1st in the East and in 3rd place overall.  (They jumped 20 places from their 23rd spot in the preseason rankings.)  The Oilers and Red Wings are one and two.

The Hockey News ranks Carolina 4rth in the East and 9th overall.  Adam Proteau was not overly impressed with the two wins over the "not-so-wild", Wild.

ESPN placed the Hurricanes 1st in the East and 2nd overall.  Scott Burnside liked what he saw in Cam Ward and Jeff Skinner.

We will keep an eye on these from time to time and will probably mention them in future "Clicks and Clippings".
