Changes at 99.9 The Fan - Better Signal Coming

11

On Wednesday, Capital Broadcasting Company, owner of 99.9 The Fan and 620 The Buzz, announced a major change to two of their local sports talk shows. "The Insiders", otherwise known as Mike Maniscalco and Mark Thomas, left their 3-7 p.m. time slot on The Fan and will be moving to the 6-9 a.m. time slot on 620 The Buzz starting on Monday. Adam Gold and Joe Ovies moved from their morning show on 620 The Buzz and have taken over from 3-7 on The Fan. The station's program director and operations manager, Dave Shore, said that the change was made to create a positive step for potential growth for both shows. I asked Shore if the change would affect Maniscalco hosting The Stormfront and The Aftermath, the pregame and postgame shows for the Carolina Hurricanes. "We feel we provide some of the best hockey coverage in the NHL and we are committed to continuing that. Mike Maniscalco is a huge part of that success and we will not be changing anything regarding The Stormfront or the Aftermath. Mike will still be hosting those shows." Maniscalco told me that he looked forward to the new challenge and released this statement: "I'm happy to continue hosting with Mark Thomas and Capitol Broadcasting, and look forward to being part of the only local morning sports talk show in Raleigh." I also asked Shore if he could confirm a rumor heard that 99.9 The Fan would be changing it's antennae location and increasing it's signal strength. "Due to FCC regulations I can not release very much information, but I can confirm that we are taking steps to increase our signal strength. Soon fans who travel outside the general area will be very pleased with their reception". Word has it that the new antennae location would be in Southwest Wake County and the signal strength would be significantly better. The change should take affect in a couple of months.
