The information is being confirmed all over the internet, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason will make TEAM USA and will represent the United States in the upcoming Olympics in Vancouver. The official press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. today.
We would like to thank the folk who have been sending us emails over the past few days to inform us about this, but we needed to make sure the appointment was confirmed before making the official announcement.
Canes Country has been promoting Gleason to make the team since before the selection committee announced the original selections on New Year's Day, so the news really comes as no surprise and is very well deserved.
It will also be announced that Ryan Whitney will join the team, as he and Gleason will fill in for the injured Paul Martin and Mike Komisarek. Good luck and get well soon to both Martin and Komisarek, injuries are a tough way to miss out on this opportunity.
We will have more about this as the story unfolds. Congratulations to Gleason!
