Junior Hurricanes Represent in USHL Drafts

The USHL held their annual Entry Draft and Futures Draft earlier this week and three members of the Junior Hurricanes were selected.

Bryan Moore of Matthews was picked third overall by Sioux Falls in the Futures Draft.  (Moore was also picked in the sixth round by Sarnia in the OHL Futures Draft.)

Trevor Owens of Raleigh and Sean Flynn of Cary were both selected in the fourth round of the Entry Draft by Waterloo and Cedar Rapids respectively.

The USHL is the top junior league in the United States and consists of players who are 20 years old and younger.  It's considered an amateur league and participants can enter college and play in the NCAA if they desire.  Several NHL players got their starts in the USHL including: Erik Cole, Joe Corvo, Chad LaRose, Blake Wheeler, Brian Rafalski, David Backes, and Thomas Vanek

Local products are getting closer and closer to being selected in the NHL Entry Draft.  It's only a matter of time.
