Matt Kennedy scored two goals and added three assists while Jeff Skinner chipped in with a goal and four assists as the Carolina Hurricanes prospects rolled over the Columbus Blue Jackets prospects in Traverse City on Tuesday night, 8-1.  The Canes outshot the Jackets 50-24.

Zac Dalpe opened up the scoring with a powerplay tally that turned out to be the only goal in the first period while the Canes built a 22-5 shots on goal advantage.

In the second period, the Canes exploded for five goals as Kennedy, Matt Pistilli, Rasmus Rissanen, Skinner, and Michal Jordan each scored.  Kennedy and Derek Claffey closed out the scoring in the third.

You can check out the scoresheet here.

It was also noted by observers that Jared Staal played a very good game.  "Staal the Younger"  had two assists.

Mike Murphy was in net and picked up the win.  The talented young goalie has a GAA of 1.0 and a save percentage of .963 so far for the tournament.  Murphy has only allowed 3 goals on the 77 shots he's faced.

The boys will play one more game, this time against the Tampa Bay squad on Wednesday starting at 5:30.  If the Canes can win that game, they will finish the tournament in a respectable third place.
