Jeff Skinner knocked in the deciding goal in overtime as the prospects of the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning prospects, 4-3 Wednesday night in Traverse City. The win gave the Hurricanes a 3-1 record and a third place finish in the tournament.
Matt Kennedy, Justin Shugg, and Jared Staal scored the other goals for the winning team. Zac Dalpe was credited with the assist on the game winner.
Troy Passingham got the win in goal.

Skinner led Carolina in this tournament with a total of seven points, (2G 5A), Matt Kennedy came in second, (3G 3A), and Zac Dalpe third (2G 2A). Kyle Lawson finished with the team's best plus/minus (+5), with Mike McKenzie just behind him at (+4).

Many of the youngsters will now make the trip to Raleigh for training camp. Zac Dalpe, Jeff Skinner, Riley Nash, Jared Staal, Matt Kennedy, Mike McKenzie, Michal Jordan, Austin Levi, Rasmus Rissanen, Kyle Lawson, and Mike Murphy made the list.
Training camp opens with mandatory physicals on Friday, then the A and B groupings hit the RBC ice on Saturday, just in time for the annual Caniac Carnival. The Hurricanes face the Florida Panthers for an exhibition match up next week Tuesday at the RBC.
