The Boston Bruins jumped on Roberto Luongo early, took a 4-0 lead in the first period, and went on to beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Monday night in Boston. It was the second straight home game that the Bruins chased Luongo, who actually criticized Tim Thomas after game 5.
When asked about the lone goal scored after the Canucks 1-0 victory, Luongo said that it was a shot he would have stopped and that it would not be difficult if you stayed in the paint. When pressed the next day about his comment, he mentioned that Thomas had never said anything good about him during the series.
The handshake line ought to be awesome Wednesday night.
Vancouver has managed to do what many thought would be impossible before this series, make the Boston Bruins look like the good guys. And they keep doing it over and over.
In any event, this should be a game 7 to remember. Wonder what Luongo will have to say when Thomas is awarded the Conn Smythe, win or lose?
