The Carolina Hurricanes released this season's training camp schedule on Monday and for the first time in a couple of years, there are official team scrimmages listed.

Camp opens on Friday, September 16 with player physicals, then the first group of skaters will hit the ice the next morning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The annual Caniac Carnival will take place on Sunday, September 18 which will coincide with a red-white scrimmage that starts at noon. There is another scrimmage listed on the schedule for September 21, also starting at noon. All practices and scrimmages are open to the public.

The Hurricanes kick off their preseason schedule on Monday night, September 19, at Buffalo. The team's complete preseason schedule follows: (all times local)

  • September 19, Carolina at Buffalo 7 p.m.
  • September 23, Nashville at Carolina, 7 p.m.
  • September 25, Winnipeg at Carolina, (at Charlotte) 5 p.m.
  • September 28, Carolina at Winnipeg, 8:30 p.m.
  • September 30, Columbus at Carolina, 7 p.m.
  • October 1, Carolina at Nashville, 8 p.m.

Last year the team invited a total of 45 players and had two groups, (A and B). This season they must anticipate inviting more players, at least initially, because the schedule is calling for three groups, (A, B, and C,) for the first week. The official training camp roster will be announced at a later date, probably right after the Traverse City Tournament which is scheduled for September 10-14.
