Today the Carolina Hurricanes, in conjunction with TV broadcast partner FOX Sports Carolinas, announced a 67-game TV schedule for the 2011-12 season. All 67 games will be broadcast in high definition.
This brings the total number of local/national broadcast games to 71, along with the earlier announced four games to be broadcast by Versus. Versus also aired four games during the 2010-11 season (including the two Compuware Premiere games in Helsinki), and 65 games were broadcast last year by FSC.
The team also announced that a number of games will also be covered in new markets in South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama this season due to the broadcast vacancy from the recently relocated Atlanta Thrashers.

RALEIGH, NC – The National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, and the team’s broadcast partner FOX Sports Carolinas, today announced FOX Sports Carolinas’ 67-game Hurricanes television package for the 2011-12 NHL season. All 67 games on FOX Sports Carolinas will be televised in high definition.
FOX Sports Carolinas’ coverage of live Hurricanes games in 2011-12 will include 37 of the team’s 41 road games throughout the 82-game regular season. As always, John Forslund will handle the play-by-play duties while former professional goaltender Tripp Tracy will provide analysis.
The network’s coverage will kick off with the Hurricanes’ opening night game at the RBC Center on Oct. 7, against Tampa Bay, and will continue with nine of the team’s 10 other October games. FOX Sports Carolinas then will cover 22 of the Hurricanes’ 29 games in November and December.
As the calendar turns to 2012, 37 of Carolina’s final 42 regular-season games will be televised between FOX Sports Carolinas and the NHL’s national rightsholder, including all 22 of the team’s road games in that span. In all, 71 of the Hurricanes’ 82 regular-season games, including 39 of 41 road games, will be available throughout North Carolina via most television providers’ standard packages. Additionally, 53 of FOX Sports Carolinas’ games will be available to viewers in South Carolina, with 43 of those games being carried throughout Georgia and parts of Alabama in the television territory that belonged to the now-relocated Atlanta Thrashers.
