It's that time of year again. The 2012 NHL Entry Draft kicks off tonight at 7:00 PM from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. Live coverage of the first round will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network. Round two will begin tomorrow at 10:00 AM and be broadcast on the NHL Network, and likely on NHL.com as well.
The Hurricanes currently hold the #8 draft pick. Currently being the key word. Were as in years past when the Canes would stand pat with their pick and take the best player the Canes appear to be major players in the trade and potentially the free agent market. In the last few days the Hurricanes have been linked to Rick Nash, Bobby Ryan, Jordan Staal and Zach Parise. Will the Canes use some of their organizational depth to acquire one of these players? Will they include the #8 pick? Will the Canes keep their pick but try and change their draft position? Right now there are many questions, but few answers.
Much will be revealed between now and the end of round 1 tonight.
Stop by, and share your thoughts on the draft. Who is going to drop? Who is going to go early? What should the Canes do?
