As always, rumors dominated the internet on the day before the NHL Entry Draft.
Word is that Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn is available to the highest bidder. The Boston Bruins are shopping Tyler Seguin. Nathan Horton will be testing the free agency market and most likely will not return to Boston.
Buyouts, Danny Briere and Vincent Lecavalier are interviewing with numerous suitors. Could the Hurricanes be interested?
In the meantime, Jim Rutherford's cell phone has been ringing like never before because of teams interested in that coveted fifth overall pick. Will he trade it or select a new potential superstar?
I will not be on the draft floor as in previous years but Canes Country will be all over the draft as always. Cory and Brian will be with the local media and the Hurricanes staff at the PNC and will be able to speak with any new draft choices via phone, as well as Tony MacDonald and Jim Rutherford.
We will have our draft day open thread up and ready at 2 p.m. so come and join us to discuss the happenings of the draft as they occur.
No one knows for sure what is going to happen, but one thing is certain. The Hurricanes will be a better team after the draft than they were before.
