The NHL finally released their schedule today and the Carolina Hurricanes will be opening their season at home against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, October 4. Next up will be the Philadelphia Flyers also at home, on Sunday, October 6.
The team will play more home games in October this year than in the past as the schedule is split, with six games home and six on the road in that pivotal opening month.
Carolina will have 18 back-to-back games, (by my count), which they have traditionally had trouble with. They will also be off for two weeks in February for the Olympics.
In related news, the new division the Canes are in is called the Metropolitan Division.
You can check out the schedule and download it from the following link. We will have much more about the schedule later.
Carolina Hurricanes.com will have more info.
